Why Keeping Infocouncil Up-To-Date Is Best Practice

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

Our newest Upgrade: Infocouncil Version 8.7.0 by Infocouncil Team | August30, 2022 | Features and Benefits

It’s here! Infocouncil Version 8.7.0 has been released and is now the recommended release for all users. It is not uncommon for our customers to experience daily interruptions to their workflow but find they disappear after an upgrade. This is why we highly recommend upgrading your system to avoid potential glitches and incompatibilities, as well as experience the latest Infocouncil functionality.

Infocouncil Version 8.7.0 contains 12 enhancements and 15 bug fixes including:

  • Auto Upgrader (applicable once future upgrades are implemented) – see separate article

  • New publishing method (WebAPI) introduced to the latest Publishing Website that bypasses the need for FTP firewall rules, and allows UnPublishing from the main Infocouncil application without the need to log into the Infocouncil website.

  • CC addresses permitted on many emails generated from our system

  • Action notes can be classified as a “Public Comment” and filtered out to the Actions Report

We highly recommend that users keep their version of Infocouncil as up-to-date as possible for the following reasons:

  • This ensures full functionality and compatibility with all third-party integrations and computer system configurations including SharePoint, LG Hub, Trim/Records Manager/Content Manager, etc.

  • Microsoft 365 Apps are consistently releasing new updates. In order to keep up with these changes and to avoid inconvenience, we issue a range of bug fixes and enhancements to coincide with these updates. Therefore, if your team is updating Microsoft 365, you should consider updating Infocouncil also. (Please note: we recommend that clients subscribe to the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel for all updates to Microsoft 365. Read more about this here)

  • The functionality of Infocouncil has improved tremendously over time. With each new release comes enhancements to functionality and as such, we recommend our customers upgrade in order to use Infocouncil at its absolute best. This is best achieved when all components are upgraded to the latest recommended version and working together.
